Home Tour-Living Room

We moved into our first apartment together a little over a month ago. We wanted to create a space for us that combined our aesthetic and interests in order to make it a place and a home that we couldn't wait to get home to every day.

We've succeeded.

Not a day goes by where one of us doesn't text the other, "I can't wait to get back to our home."

On this blog, we want to share our space with you and give you a little tour of our home and how it represents us.

First, we're going to take a look at our living room space:

One of our favorite parts of our new apartment are the concrete floors. We both love clean and modern design and we were so happy to find this industrial space. We wanted a neutral canvas of basic furniture items so that we could decorate them with our own bits of flair.

We are planning to go to Denmark this winter and lately we have adopted the idea of Hygge into our lives. Yup, we have fallen for that fad and we are totally here for it. In case, you don't know what Hygge (pronounced HOO-ga) is, it's the lifestyle of the Danish. This is where you embrace comforts, things you love and enjoy the people that you love. Basically, it's the classy version of YOLO, but instead of skydiving, add a cozy fireplace.

Although we both love modern design and clean spaces, we think it's totally possible to instill this Hygge coziness into our lives because Hygge doesn't always have to interior decorating as if you're in a cabin up in the Northwoods.

We make ourselves cozy by surrounding ourselves with the things we love: our favorite books, cameras, sentimental knick-knacks, and a plethora of candles.

Along with decorating our space to provide the most comfort, we also find it important to constantly surround ourselves with things that inspire us. All of the books and art prints that we have inspire us in a different way whether that is emotionally, career-wise or intellectually.

Our gallery wall is part of this inspiration and we love showcasing art from our favorite artists and friends. It's still in-progress as we are collecting art pieces and we have some blank frames that we still need to fill.

This space will no-doubt be evolving as we continue to to live in it, but we're so happy and pleased to have a home that we're proud of and a home that feels completely ours.

What fills our space:

Sofa: Wayfair//Table: Alex created it//Rug: Wayfair//White Chair: Target //Gray chair: Target//Pillows: Target//Shelf: Alex created it.//Dog: River. She's ours. You can't have her.
